Michael Self, racing for the fifth time for JD Motorsports with Gary Keller, finished 25th Saturday in the Furious 7 300 Xfinity Series race at Chicagoland Speedway.
This was not only Self’s first time at the track, but his first time on a 1.5 mile “intermediate” speedway.

“I think we accomplished our goal for the weekend. I really wasn’t going in expecting any specific result, I just wanted to log laps and learn the race craft of the bigger track, and that’s exactly what we did. We got in a bunch of laps and learned a lot,” Self said. “The national series run the majority of their races on these bigger, faster ovals so that’s a big focus for me right now, getting comfortable at those places. I can’t thank Johnny Davis enough for letting me drive his No. 0 car this week, and with the experience gained I can’t wait to make a good, competitive effort at Kentucky in the No. 01 next weekend”

Self raced with sponsorship from Auto Remote Warehouse.

“It’s been awesome to have Auto Remote Warehouse on board for these races. They’ve been great to work with, it’s a blast having their employees at the track, and I’m honored to have the opportunity to share our first races together at this level.”

Sprint Cup driver Kyle Busch won the race, and Chris Buescher stayed in the point lead.

The series moves on to Kentucky Speedway next on Saturday, September 26th for the visitmyrtlebeach.com 300, where Self will return to the JD Motorsports No. 01.
