Promising Start at Iowa Ends in a Hole for Self

The ARCA Racing Series made it's way to Iowa Speedway for the 12th round of the 2018 schedule on Saturday, and fresh off his second victory of the year at Chicagoland Speedway was Michael Self in the No. 55 Sinclair Oil Toyota. Making his 10th start at the Newton, Iowa based short track, Self was enthusiastic about his chances.

This Saturday, Self will be behind the wheel of the same Sinclair Oil/Sapp Bros. Toyota that he raced at Chicagoland Speedway, but with different numbers on the side. Self will carry the Venturini Motorsports-owned No. 55 around the 7/8-mile D-shaped oval, as he did earlier in the year at Nashville Speedway.

Self Earns Redemption with Victory at Chicagoland

After cutting a right-front tire in the waning laps with a commanding lead in last season’s ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards SCOTT 150 at Chicagoland Speedway, Michael Self headed back to the Windy City on Thursday seeking redemption. Mission accomplished for the 27-year-old Self as he parked the No. 15 Sinclair Oil Toyota in victory lane for the third victory of his ARCA career in just his 15th start.

This Thursday, Self, driving the No. 15 Sinclair Oil Toyota, will make his way to Chicagoland Speedway for the third time in his career. Self last competed at Chicagoland Speedway in the ARCA Racing Series in September, when he led 29 laps, and had a commanding lead with eight laps to go when his car blew a right-front tire, ultimately ending his day.

Daytona winner Michael Self returned to action this past weekend. Driving the No. 55 Sinclair Oil Toyota Camry, Self scored a solid fourth place finish in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards Music City 200 at the Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville.
