Concord, North Carolina (April 9, 2018) – Daytona winner Michael Self returned to action this past weekend. Driving the No. 55 Sinclair Oil Toyota Camry, Self scored a solid fourth place finish in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards Music City 200 at the Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville.

Despite unseasonably cold temperatures, it was business as usual for 27-year old driver.

Self, who qualified 10th out of a strong field with a fast lap of 111.587 mph (19.291 seconds) led seven laps and flirted with the leaders all night but came up a few spots short of winning his third consecutive ARCA race.

“It’s a fun place to race; that’s for sure,” said Self. “You really have to adapt a lot and constantly be thinking about your line. This place changed all night. Overall, it was good night I guess. We just need to go back and figure out how to beat those MDM cars when it counts most – at the end of the race.”

“We’ve been extremely strong starting off the year. This Venturini Motorsports team has put a lot of hard work into the program and continues to give me great equipment. I feel like we were so close to another win tonight. I was able to grab the lead with about 50 laps to go which I felt like was perfect timing, but our last set of tires just threw off the car’s balance for some reason. We got super tight as the final run went on, and that took us out of contention. Regardless, I’m especially proud of winning Daytona and coming out of Nashville with a top-five, and I’ve still got the points lead which was a huge goal of mine.”

“Unfortunately, I won’t be running the full schedule this year so I’ll lose that lead come Salem in two weeks.  I’d love to try and keep it rolling but it just wasn’t in the cards this year. We’ll continue to race for trophies; and I’ll be back again at Talladega at the end of the month.”

Self, eluding to his abbreviated ARCA schedule will run a total of ten races with Venturini Motorsports. Already competing at Daytona and Nashville, the Park City, Utah native will also enter Talladega Superspeedway (April 27), Charlotte Motor Speedway (May 24), Michigan International Speedway (June 8), Chicagoland Speedway (June 28), Iowa Speedway (July 7), Lucas Oil Raceway (Sept. 7), Salem Speedway (Sept. 15) and Kansas Speedway (Oct. 19).

With 11 career ARCA starts Self now has notched two series wins, seven top-five’s and seven top-10’s.
