A Look Back: On June 28, Michael Self made his way to victory lane for the third time in his ARCA Racing Series career, taking the checkered flag at Chicagoland Speedway. Self led 63 laps throughout the night, and finished it off on a green-white-checkered restart. The win was the second for Self so far in 2018.

A Look Ahead: This Saturday, Self will be behind the wheel of the same Sinclair Oil/Sapp Bros. Toyota that he raced at Chicagoland Speedway, but with different numbers on the side. Self will carry the Venturini Motorsports-owned No. 55 around the 7/8-mile D-shaped oval, as he did earlier in the year at Nashville Speedway. This race will be Self’s 10th at the Newton, Iowa short track. Self has previous starts at Iowa Speedway in the NASCAR Xfinity series as well as the NASCAR K&N Pro Series. He is credited with two wins at the track, both in the K&N Pro Series West.

Self on Iowa: “I love to Iowa Speedway. This is another race that I’ve had circled on my calendar this year, because it’s a track I just really like to drive. I’ve been there so many times in different cars, I feel really comfortable there. Iowa was the first “big” track I ever ran when I started running the K&N series years ago, so in a way I kind of feel like I learned to big-track race at Iowa. I’ve had some great runs there, and definitely had one of the most entertaining races of my career there last year in the ARCA series. I led a bunch of laps, but broke a sway-bar with about 30 to go and that took me out of contention for the win. I’m really hoping to rebound from that and put on another good showing for Sinclair and Sapp Bros.”

About Michael Self: A native of Salt Lake City, Utah, Self is an accomplished road racer, four-time Utah State Karting champion, eight-time NASCAR K&N Pro Series winner, and three-time ARCA Racing Series winner. In 2016, he helped guide Justin Haley to the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East championship from the spotter’s stand and as a driver’s coach. Self returned to consistent competition in 2017 and finished fourth in the NKNPSW championship standings with two wins, seven top-fives, and 13 top-10’s in 13 starts, as well as one win, and four top-fives in six ARCA Racing Series starts. Self captured his second career ARCA Racing Series victory in the 2018 season opener at Daytona International Speedway.
