A Look Back: Self and the team struggled throughout the day at Memphis International Raceway, never quite getting the balance where they wanted in the No. 25 Sinclair Oil Toyota. Self was able to compete inside the top-five early on in the race, but ultimately crossed the finish line sixth after falling back throughout the third stage.

A Look Ahead: The ARCA Menards Series now heads to their lone dirt event of the 2020 season at the one-mile Illinois State Fairgrounds. Located in Springfield, Illinois, the track has been a staple on the ARCA Menards Series schedule year after year. Self has one start at Springfield, last year when he was able to bring home the victory.

Self on Springfield: “Springfield was a ton of fun last year. It was my first ever race on dirt. I’d made practice laps in a handful of different dirt vehicles in the past, but racing the ARCA car on the one-mile track was totally different than any of that. It was a great learning experience. I’m really hoping I can use the knowledge I gained last year to pick up on things quickly this time and have a shot to be competitive. We’re allowed to go in to this race with a very similar setup to what we’ve run in the past, as some of the rule changes aren’t carried over to this event, so I’ve got a lot of confidence in the VMS crew as they’ve been very successful at the dirt tracks the last couple of years.”

About Michael Self: A native of Salt Lake City, Utah, Self is an accomplished road racer, four-time Utah State Karting champion, eight-time NASCAR K&N Pro Series winner, and nine-time ARCA Menards Series winner. Self returned to consistent competition in 2017 and finished fourth in the NKNPSW championship standings with two wins, seven top-fives, and 13 top-10’s in 13 starts, as well as one win, and four top-fives in six ARCA Racing Series starts. Self captured his second career ARCA Racing Series victory in the 2018 season opener at Daytona International Speedway. In 2019 Self competed full-time in the ARCA Menards series finishing second in the championship standings with four wins, 14 top-fives, and 15 top-tens in 20 starts.
