A Look Back: Self and the Sinclair Oil team capped off the ARCA Menards Series dirt track races with a fourth-place finish at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds. In a race that was slowed by only two cautions, Self was able to work his way up to the second position just after the halfway mark, but ultimately fell back due to several late-race mistakes. Despite that, Self managed to bring home his 13th top-five of the 2019 season.

A Look Ahead: With the dirt races in the mirror, Self now turns back to short-track asphalt racing for the ARCA Menards Series 107th race at the abrasive, high-banked and high-speed half-mile Salem Speedway. This will be Self’s third start at Salem. He has one win at the track which came during the spring earlier this year.

Self on Salem: “I’ve only run Salem twice, but I think it’s one of my most favorite short tracks that I’ve ever raced at. The track has as much character as anywhere with it’s ultra-abrasive and bumpy surface, it’s a handful to drive just to begin with. It always takes a few laps to get re-acclimated to Salem just because it’s so much rougher than anywhere else we go, but that kind of makes it fun. You really have to be on top of your game both mentally and physically. We had a phenomenal Sinclair Oil Toyota here in the Spring, and even though we’re bringing the same car back, it’s going to be warmer and track conditions will probably be different this time around so I’m sure we’ll have some adaptation and work to do, but I’m looking forward to getting back on this track under the lights.”
