Race Weekend Information

Date: Saturday, October 5, 2019

Event: Herr’s Potato Chips 200

Track: Lucas Oil Raceway

Series: ARCA Menards Series

Watch It Live: MAVTV, 8:00pm ET

Driver: Michael Self

Car: No. 25 Sinclair Oil Toyota Camry

Team: Venturini Motorsports

Crew Chief: Shannon Rursch

A Look Back: Self fell victim to another mechanical issue at Salem Speedway when a left-front suspension failure forced him to bring his Sinclair Oil Toyota to the garage while running in second place before the halfway point. Though the Venturini Motorsports crew was able to repair the car and get Self back on track, he finished in the 14th position, 66 laps down. The disappointing result saw the championship battle close tightly, as Self heads to Lucas Oil Raceway with a mere five-point lead in the overall standings.

A Look Ahead: This Saturday Self and Sinclair oil will return to Lucas Oil Raceway, just outside of Indianapolis, IN for the third together since 2017. In his previous two starts at the .686-mile low-banked oval Self is credited with a second-place finish in 2017, and an 11th-place finish in 2018 after another day plagued with mechanical issues. Self has led 29 laps at LOR, all in 2017.

Self on Lucas Oil Raceway: “In the two starts that I have at Lucas Oil Raceway it’s been very hit-or-miss. In 2017 we had a really fast car and had a great shot to win the race, but a late-race caution allowed someone to put on tires and beat us at the end, and last year we were just bad all around. I enjoy driving the track, but it can be really frustrating from a handling standpoint because the corners are so long. If the setup is a little bit off, it’s hard to make up for it. I think Shannon has some good ideas of things to try with our car especially after we tested a few weeks ago, so hopefully we can figure some things out and put together a rebounding run after what happened at Salem.”
