Event: Dawn 150

Track: Kansas Speedway

Series: ARCA Menards Series

Watch It Live: FS1, 9:00pm CDT

Driver: Michael Self

Car: No. 25 Sinclair Oil Toyota Camry

Team: Venturini Motorsports

Crew Chief: Kevin Reed

A Look Back: Self and the Sinclair Oil team fought handling issues throughout a hot day at Iowa Speedway before crossing the finish line in sixth position. After starting third based on Sioux Chief Short Track Challenge owner points, Self maintained his position in the top-five throughout the majority of the race, but an electrical issue just before the second stage break forced him to the tail of the field. Self was able to make his was back inside the top-five with 30 laps remaining, but the handling issues persisted and Self came up short after being passed late in the race.

A Look Ahead: Self and the Venturini Motorsports-backed Sinclair Oil crew now head to the Kansas Speedway for the first of two races at the 1.5-mile D-shaped oval on the 2020 schedule. This race has replaced the event that was originally scheduled for Chicagoland Speedway. Self has five total starts at Kansas, with four of those being in the ARCA Menards Series, and one in the NASCAR Xfinity series. In his four career ARCA starts, Self has a win (2017) and four top-fives.

Self on Kansas: “Kansas is always a track I look forward to racing at. It’s definitely one of my favorite intermediates. The surface is really smooth and the corners have a lot of banking so speeds are really high, and the track usually develops multiple lanes that can be run throughout the race. We’ve struggled a bit as of late as a team and don’t feel like we’ve been nearly as competitive as we’re capable of being, so we’re changing some things up this weekend going in to a track that I know really well, and hopefully those changes will pay off and we can get back toward the front.”
