A Look Back: Self brought home a third place finish at Michigan Speedway, matching his best finish since the ARCA Menards Series has returned to action after a brief pause due to COVID-19 after the second race of the season. Self and the No. 25 Sinclair Oil Toyota crew have fought handling issues since the return to action, but the podium finish felt like a step in the right direction for the team. Self left Michigan leading the championship standings by just four points.

A Look Ahead: The series will now head to its first road course event since 2017. The original 2020 schedule had two road course races planned at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course and Watkins Glen, but both were cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions. The Daytona race replaces Watkins Glen, and will be the first time the series has run on the historic 3.61-mile track. Self, who coaches road racing on a regular basis, will be making his first road course start in the ARCA Menards Series.

Self on the Daytona Road Course: “Just the thought of finally going to a road course has me as excited as I have been for any race this year. I’ve been wanting to run an ARCA car on a road course for so long, but things just haven’t worked out to make it happen. This year, I was ecstatic to see two great road courses on the original schedule, then a bit heartbroken when they were both cancelled. I’m really glad we were able to replace at least one of them with another road race. The Daytona road course is a historic track. I’ve gone to the Trans Am race each year for the last couple as a coach for the Mike Cope Racing team, so I’m very familiar with the track, and really excited to be driving it this weekend.”
